The small mining village of Cullinan, located east of Pretoria, gained world-wide attention with the discovery on June 25 1905 of an incredible 3108 carat stone, dubbed the Cullinan Diamond - the largest uncut diamond ever found. Petra Diamonds said the 507-carat gem was found alongside three more rough diamonds
found at the mine Sep 24. It was being subjected to expert analysis, but was being hailed by industry experts as one of the 20 largest high-quality rough diamonds ever found worldwide.
